Ruth Bueide, 98, of Lincoln, formerly of Willmar, died Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at The Monarch in Lincoln. Her funeral will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm, Friday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and continue one hour prior to service at the church.
Ruth was born December 17, 1910 in Carpio, North Dakota, the daughter of John and Elisa (Haaland) Haaland. She grew up in Carpio and graduated from Carpio High School in 1929, she continued her education at Minot State Teacher’s College, receiving her Teacher’s Certificate in 1930. Ruth taught in rural schools in North Dakota for the next six years.
On July 13, 1939, she was united in marriage to Rev. P. K. Lawrence Bueide at Carpio Lutheran Church. Following their marriage, they live in the communities of Fergus Falls, Luverne, Willmar and Frost, Minnesota. In 1970, Ruth passed the test to become a Licensed Practical Nurse by studying her daughter’s textbooks and yet never went to a class. She practiced nursing for 15 years before retiring in 1985. Following her husbands death in 1987, Ruth continued to live in Willmar and in 2005, she moved to Lincoln, Nebraska to be near her daughter, Elsa.
Whether she was teaching Sunday school, working as the custodian, participating as a Bible study leader, helping with Meals on Wheels or the Stephen’s Ministry, Ruth was always active in the churches she attended.
Surviving are her children, Paul (and Marsha) Bueide of Scottsbluff, NE; Katherine (and Tom) Renstrom of Montgomery, NY; Elsa (and David) Larson of Lincoln, NE; eight grandchildren and spouses, Mary (Brad) Hall, Michael (Christina) Bueide, Beth (Rick) Sunblade, Paul and John Renstrom, Eric (Kati) Larson, Karen (Chad Gerking) Larson and Daniel Bueide; 12 great grandchildren and great, great grandson, Jayson Renstrom. Also surviving are her brother, John (and Chris) Haaland of Albuquerque, NM; and sisters-in-law, Doroles and Helen Haaland both of Minot, ND.
Besides her husband, her parents, sons, Harold and Daniel, 5 brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
