Survivors include her brother, Virgil Gerkin of Shelburn, IN and her sister, Helen Robinson of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.Services will be 2pm Tuesday at Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will be at Huron Cemetery.Friends may call from noon until services Tuesday at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to Southern Care Hospice

Ilene Gerkin:March 13, 1924 - January 19, 2007Ilene Gerkin, 82, of Bedford passed away at 6:15 P.M. Friday, January 19th at the Stonebridge Health Campus in Bedford.Born on March 13, 1924 in Huron, IN she was the daughter of Jonathon Gerkin and Della (Thomas) Gerkin. She retired after thirty years from the Bedford National Bank where she worked in bookkeeping. She was a member of the Southland Church of Christ.Survivors include her brother Virgil Gerkin and his wife, Peggy of Shelburn, IN; a sister, Helen Robinson and her husband, Jerry of Bloomfield Hills, MI and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Jay, Clay, Lawrence, Dale and Cecil Gerkin and three sisters, Ruth Dillman, Mae Dollar and Marie Jones. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 23rd from the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Brother Bud Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Huron Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 12:00 Noon until the hour of the service at Day & Carter Mortuary. The family asks that memorial contributions be considered made to the Southern Care Hospice.
