He was a retired farmer and a member of Woodville Baptist Church.Survivors: four sons, Bill Gerkin of Washington, Ind., John Gerkin of Killeen, Texas, Norman Gerkin of Jacksonville, Fla., and Ronald Gerkin of Orleans; two brothers, Cecil Gerkin of Hopkinsville, KY, and Virgil Gerkin on Shelburn; three sisters, Marie Jones of Shoals, Helen Robinson of Michigan and Ilene Gerkin of Bedford; a half sister, Ruth Dillman of Bedford; a half brother, Clay Gerkin of Oaktown; 22 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday, Chastain Funeral Home. Burial: Mitchell Cemetery, Visitation 2-8 p.m. Sunday and after 10 a.m. Monday.
