Florence Bowe called a few minutes ago to say that Larry died peacefully at home yesterday, April 3, of cancer. As I'm sure most of you know, he was by Florence's side helping with everything she did and he was always there to help with reunions and other Gerking family projects. Their daughter Trish is with Florence now.A military service for Larry will be Tuesday, April 8, 10:30 a.m., at the Sunnyside Little Chapel of the Chimes, 11667 SE Stevens Rd., Happy Valley, OR 97086. The phone there is (503) 659-1184. Florence is expecting most of their family to attend, and it would make her happy to see any of you who could also be there. I will order a floral arrangement to send on behalf of the Gerking Family. She did not specify any organization or charity for those who might want to make donations, but those of you who have access to the Oregonian could check its obituary section to see if anything is mentioned there.
